Leora Grace Perry

Fountain Hills, AZ

Age 91, beloved wife of John Perry of Dimondale , Michigan , went to be with her Lord and Savior June 20, 2011 in Fountain Hills , Arizona . John preceded her in death in June of 2007.

Grace was born March 1st, 1920, in Lansing, the daughter of Orson and Clara Chamberlain of East Lansing , the youngest of four children. In 1939 she was married to John Perry, a marriage blessed by God for nearly 68 years. They had eight children, 23 grand children, and 13 great-grand children. John and Grace were residents of the Lansing , East Lansing , Grand Ledge, and Dimondale areas for nearly all of that time. Over the years, they partnered in home building, dry cleaning, brick masonry, and farming.

Grace was always active in her church, teaching Sunday school for over 50 years.

Grace and John attended the Central Free Methodist Church in Lansing , Delta Haven Free Methodist Church in west Lansing , and later in life South Baptist Church in west Lansing . Grace taught Bible lessons in her various homes for many years as well, inviting neighbor children to come each week and hear God’s Word. Later in life, she also held a weekly in-home Bible Study for neighbor ladies. She studied the Bible carefully over the years and wrote several pamphlets on various Biblical topics, as inspired by the Holy Spirit. At 80 years old she learned to use the computer and wrote a book titled, “Our Dream”, on their family’s life experiences and how God was with them through them all. She also wrote booklets on living for Jesus and she distributed many printed copies. She also helped John make thousands of rolled bandages for the mission field, a project they did in retirement years. Her final message was “The Lord Bless You, and share the Love of Jesus with as many as you can.”

Survivors include her sons, Duane (Holly) of South Carolina, Loren (Mignon) of Georgia, David (Margaret) of Texas , Dan of Michigan, and Steve (Carrie) Perry of Arizona , and daughters Leora O’Connor (Jim) of Michigan , Joyce of Michigan, and Margie Brown (Ken) of Ohio .

The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with Rev. Ken Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Friday, July 8 from 6-8 PM and Saturday 1 hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Loren Perry, David Perry, Dan Perry, Steve Perry, Jason Perry, and Jeff Janson.
