Libby was born in Wiarton, Ontario in 1942 to Kenneth Howitt Symon and Wilda Rebecca Hutchison Symon, the second oldest of four loving sisters—Jo Zimmer, Brenda Brennan (deceased), and Rebecca Lysinger. The family moved to Flint, MI in 1956, where she met Jeffrey Voight Saltman. The two married in 1964.
For many years Libby was a devoted mother, proud homemaker and generous friend in her community. After her divorce in 1986, Libby’s natural sense of style and capacity to deeply connect with people helped guide her to a successful career in fashion, retail and real estate.
Though Libby converted to Judaism in 1964 and was involved in various temple organizations, she always considered herself a “Universalist” who was committed to kindness, justice and authenticity.
Libby is survived by her loving children, Samuel Kenneth Saltman, Matthew Michael Saltman and Bethany Anne Saltman as well as her grandchildren, Lucas Saltman, Blake Saltman, Adam Saltman, Mackenzie Saltman, and Azalea Case.
A private memorial will be held in Libby’s home on September 14th.
Charitable donations are accepted in Libby’s name at both the ACLU and the Salvation Army.
