Linda Lee Laws, a beautiful soul who filled the lives of everyone she met with Love, Sacrifice, and Grace, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 2, 1940, Linda lived a life that was filled with devotion, faith, and joyful adventure.
A proud graduate of Sexton High School, Linda was blessed with a wonderful group of girlfriends: Judy Shaw, Judy Streeter, and Janice Land. Their lifelong bond and laughter weathered all of life's seasons together. While she spent early years working in insurance and helping out her parents' restaurant, she found her true professional calling in dedicating the majority of her adult life to serving the State of Michigan across various roles.
Linda's great love story began on the sands of Lake Michigan in Grand Haven, where she met Rex. Though she wasn't initially impressed, a meeting at The Dells on Lake Lansing changed her heart forever. They married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1959, and shared many wonderful years together. The couple shared a beautiful, decades-long adventure - riding motorcycles through Michigan's Copper Country, chasing the winter sunshine to play golf in Arizona, and simply soaking in every moment with their grandchildren.
Family was the absolute center of Linda's universe. She was her children's and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, never missing an activity. She made lasting memories and led hikes through nature during camping trips at Yankee Springs and Gun Lake, and hosted elaborate, warmth-filled holiday feasts that brought everyone she loved under one roof. Even when faced with the heartbreaking loss of her only son, Rex Corlin, in 1981, Linda's spirit never broke; instead, she chose to love even deeper, remaining the fierce, unwavering anchor of strength for her family.
In 1999, Linda and Rex moved to the Nazarene Campground in Vicksburg, where they quickly gained a whole new community of dear friends. As a faithful member of Chapman Memorial Church, Linda lived her love for God through her hands and feet. She served as church treasurer for many years, sang in the choir, mentored local schoolchildren, drove those in need to appointments, and kept the food pantry stocked. Their door was always open, warmly welcoming visiting missionaries into their home. Her church family rightfully recognized her dedicated service with a special lifetime service achievement award.
Linda found endless joy in life's simple pleasures - getting lost in a good book or movie, visiting greenhouses to tend to her beloved plants, and taking long walks with her treasured Schnauzer. She also possessed a wonderfully sharp, competitive streak and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly banter of a lively game of cards, dominoes, or board games.
Linda's radiant legacy lives on through her children: Laurie Lee (Robert) Porter and Christine Laws-Douglas; grandsons: Joshua Douglas, Lucas Porter and Adam Porter; and her many beloved nieces and nephews.
She has been reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Rex Lee Laws; her son, Rex Corlin Laws, USN; her parents: Kenneth and Thelma DeKubber; her sister, Sandra Ginder; her brother, Kenneth DeKubber; and nephew, Troy Ginder.
A joyful celebration of Linda's life will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 11:00am with a visitation holding space for family and friends one hour prior at Grand Ledge Church of the Nazarene, 3432 Jefferson Hwy, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In honor of Linda's lifelong spirit of giving back, please consider a memorial donation to Grand Ledge SDA Food & Clothing Bank in lieu of flowers.
