Linda Ellen Scott

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born on September 19th, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan to George and Mary Quimby. Linda was the devoted wife of Stephen D. Scott, and mother to Holly Bamfield and Ryan Scott.

Linda was a graduate of Eastern High School. After attending Lansing Community College and Michigan State University, Linda started working for the State of Michigan, and through mutual friends met the love of her life, Stephen D. Scott. They were married on April 6th, 1968 at the People's Church in East Lansing, and together they raised two children. Linda will be remembered for her warm, welcoming nature, her genuine interest in people, and her witty sense of humor.

While raising her children, Linda continued to work for the State of Michigan, going on to become the Personnel Director for Consumer Industry Services. She was an extremely hard working person, detail oriented, and always considerate. Linda retired from the State of Michigan in 2005.

Some of her favorite activities included dinner parties, travelling, golfing, and playing cards. The common denominator in all of these things was that she loved spending time with friends and family. She had a dinner club that would regularly meet, annual trips to Florida with her friends and family, ladies golf groups, and many fun trips with her husband to places like St. Thomas, Italy, Japan, Great Britain, Vancouver, Montreal and Australia. An avid basketball fan, she always vociferously rooted for MSU Womens and Mens basketball teams, and her favorite player of all time, Stephen Curry.

Above all else, her love of her husband, children, and grandchildren was second to none. You could always find her on the sidelines or stands supporting her son Ryan playing Guts Frisbee, her granddaughter Alaina in competitive cheer, her grandson Mason playing football, and her granddaughters Elin and Fiona Irish dancing and playing violin. She organized and planned family dinners to celebrate birthdays and holidays, and always made sure to bake brownies and rolls for her grandkids.

Linda was preceded by her parents Mary E. Quimby, George J. Quimby Jr.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Stephen D. Scott; children Holly Bamfield (Phillip), Ryan Scott (Meghan); Grandchildren Alaina Bamfield, Mason Bamfield, Elin Scott, Fiona Scott; siblings Jim Quimby (Marleah), Heidi Kauffman (Bruce); and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will take place at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel on Monday November 24th.Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM, with a service at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon.

A committal service will then take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 4444 W Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI, 48906, on November 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
