Louvaine Ann Johnson

Louvaine “Lou Lou” Ann Johnson, age 92, passed away in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She was born on August 25, 1930, in Escanaba, Michigan to John Francis and Helga Emily (Nelson) Schils.

She married Duane Allan Johnson on December 6, 1952 in Marquette, Michigan. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1948 and attended St. Luke’s Nursing School, Class of 1951 earning her Registered Nursing Degree in December of 1951. She worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Marquette, Michigan, Michigan Community Blood Center in East Lansing, Michigan, and retired from the American Red Cross, Mid-Michigan Chapter, Lansing. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a Sparrow Hospital volunteer and volunteered for hospice organizations for many years.

She was a proud Yooper, steadfast Green Bay Packer fan, loved watching football, going shopping, and her clothes were always immaculate! She was a very loving mother and grandmother and was especially happy at becoming a great-grandmother! Our parents legacy will live on in those children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane A. Johnson; her parents; and brothers, Gordon (Marilyn) Schils and Jack Schils. She is survived and missed by her loving children, Debra (Bill) Spike, Diane (Ron) Horwath, Al (Nancy) Johnson, and David Johnson; grandchildren, Lori Snyder, Mark (Lindsay) Snyder, Ashley (Brad) Ross, Tyler Horwath, Aaron (Alane) Johnson, Blake (Heidi) Johnson, Kylie Johnson; great-grandchildren, Molly, Jacob, Kyle & Justin Ross, Max, Lily, & Ollie Johnson, Josie Snyder & Noah Thornhill; sister-in-law, Jo Schils; and many nieces & nephews.

We would like to thank CorsoCare Hospice and the staff at Grandhaven Living Center for all of their care during our mother’s stay.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Tiffany Chapel, 3232 W Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48917.
