

He was born on August 19, 1938, in San Benito, Texas, the son of Ygnacio B. and Concepcion Gonzalez. In 1959 Luis married the love of his life, Juanita (Hernandez) Gonzalez, in San Benito, Texas. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion. In 1966, they moved to Lansing Michigan, where they raised their family and created a home filled with love and tradition.
Luis worked for General Motors for 30 years and retired June 1996.
Luis was a man of God whose faith guided his life. His devotion gave him strength and shaped the values he passed on to his family.
In his younger years, Luis was a singer and musician, sharing his voice and talent with those around him. Luis enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, traveling with his wife, playing Sudoku, going to the casino and watching football cheering for his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed attending his grandson’s football games.
Luis is survived by his children, Luis Jr. (Angelita) Gonzalez, Yolanda (Juvencio Jr) Aldaco, Magdalena (Robert) Depew, and Irene Gonzalez. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Luis is also survived by his brothers, Armando Gonzalez of San Benito, TX, Robert Gonzalez of San Benito, TX, Sam (Linda) Gonzalez of Lansing, MI; sisters, Genoveva Gonzalez of San Benito, TX and Benita Gonzalez of San Benito, TX; brother-in-law, Lorenzo Jr. (Martha) Hernandez of Lansing, MI; sisters-in-law, Rosario Hernandez of San Benito, TX and Virginia Hernandez of San Benito, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved.
Luis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ygnacio B. and Concepcion (McHaney) Gonzalez; his beloved wife, Juanita H. Gonzalez; his son, Estevan Gonzalez Sr.; his brother, Alejos Gonzalez; brothers-in-law, Jose P. Hernandez, Guadalupe Hernandez, Jose Lorenzo Hernandez, Jose Cruz Hernandez; sisters-in-law, Maria Hernandez and Ramona Ledesma.
Luis’s legacy is one of love, faith, strength and devotion to his family which he will be remembered for.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel 3232 West Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI 48917. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
