Lyle Wayne Philo 78, Lansing, died peacefully Thursday, February 25, 2010. Born August 1, 1931, Isabella County, MI, he was the son of Roscoe and Wreatha (Fair) Philo.
Lyle retired from Fisher Body in 1998 after 45 years of service. He enjoyed his annual trips to Florida, fishing with his Dad, friends and family members. Lyle loved kids of all ages. The neighborhood “grandpa”, he always took interest in children who looked for “Philo” to encourage them, remember birthdays and “sneak” them special treats. In his later years, Mr. Philo enjoyed remodeling homes and assisted many local families to achieve home ownership. Lyle served in the US Air Force as a medic during the Korean War
Preceded in death by parents Roscoe & Wreatha Philo, Rosebush, MI; brother Alvin Philo; and dear friend and partner, Jessie Mae Carey earlier this year.
Mr. Philo is survived by his 3 children, Michael (Susan) Philo, Hyland, CA, Pamela (Robert) Chesney, and Larry (Stephanie) Philo of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Jerry Chesney, Christina & Elizabeth Philo, Michelle, Stephanie and Paul (Krystal) Philo; sister, Marguerite (Margie)Skeen, Breckenridge MI; and brother, Jerry (Linda) Philo, Thompsonville, MI; step-children, Michele (Dave) Harrison, Grand Rapids, MI, Mindy Colon, South Lyon, MI, Marilyn McLeod, Saline, MI, Kathy (Vino) Guarnieri, Yale, MI, Jim (Monica) Innes, Mason, MI and Christie (Tom) Panzenhagen, Grosse Pointe, MI; Step-grandchildren Kyle and Alexis Harrison, CJ and Jose Colon, Melissa (Dave) Kolasinski, Sarah and Bill Stevens, Hannah Thomson, Amanda, Jenny and Cecilia Innes, Paul and Tony Attard; and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday, February 28 at the funeral home. Burial Services will be held Friday, March 5, 2010, Williamson Memorial Gardens, Franklin, TN.
Following the service, the children will host friends and family for a light lunch and fellowship at Harry’s Place, 404 N. Verlinden Ave., Lansing, MI.
