Makayla Rae Cater-Hostetler

Makayla Rae Cater-Hostetler was born July 22, 1999 and born into this world as a shining star. From birth to young adulthood, her intelligence, curiosity and spunk made her a joy to have as daughter, granddaughter, niece, great granddaughter cousin and friend to so many.

She excelled in school throughout the years and graduated from Mason High School in 2017 with high honors. She attended Western Michigan University after high and made the Dean’s list both fall and spring semester. She had been accepted to the business college at MSU and was to begin classes this fall.

She worked a full time job and attended school full time all, while still finding time to have adventures with her family and friends. She was a varsity competitive cheerleader all through high school, was on the tennis team and was a national honor society member. She always made everyone smile with her laughter and humor. She was always there to comfort family and friends in need. She had so much potential and made an impact on everyone that crossed her path.

She is survived by her mother; Amanda Sue Cater, Uncle-Dad Benjamin Cater, her Uncle & Aunt, Dylan and Lindsay Cater, Grandparents Tim and Susan Cater, Great-Grandmother, Marilyn A Finney, Great Grandfather Delbert Cater, her cousins Cole, Nora, Willow Cater. Her father Chad (Rachel) Hostetler; brothers CJ and Jaxon Hostetler along with her two best friends Alexis Bahl and Mykenzie Lochner and many friends and family.

She was tragically taken on July 23, 2019. We were blessed with nineteen years of her radiant joy and happiness. She is now at peace in the arms of God, her light will continue to shine in all of our hearts and souls for eternity. She will be watching over all of us and would want us to live our lives to the fullest every day, as she did hers.

We will honor her memory by doing just that. We love you baby girl, the love your family and friends have for you is astounding. You will always be cherished. Rest in Peace our sweet beautiful angel.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday, July 30, 2018 at Mason High School, 1001 South Barnes Street, Mason, MI and from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, July 30, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI.
