

Margaret Barnes Sheaffer died November 7, 2015 at home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born September 16, 1917 in Hamilton, Ohio. Margaret was the daughter of William and Cora Barnes and the wife of the late William E. Sheaffer of Lansing, Mich.
She is survived by her son William H. (Joan) Sheaffer of Gaylord, Mich., and daughter Suzanne (Alan) Tomlinson of Lansing, Mich.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Margaret graduated from St. Thomas High School (St. Thomas, Pennsylvania) in 1934, and married William in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in 1936. She and William moved to Mason, Michigan in 1947. Together, they owned and operated a commercial printing company - Craft Printers - in Lansing from 1953 to 1980.
Margaret served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge, reading and spending time with friends and family. She closely followed the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves baseball teams, and she was also a true Michigan State University sports fan. "Peg" was also current with today's technology. Even in her 98th year, she was a regular communicator via e-mail.
The family is grateful for the outstanding care and compassion Margaret received from the staff at Great Lakes Caring.
A memorial service will be held at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw St., Lansing at 11:00 a.m. on November 30. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank - 2116 Mint Road in Lansing, Michigan
