Maria R. Garza

Maria R. Garza (Gallegos), born February 8, 1932 in Crystal City Tx., was surrounded by family when she went to be with our Lord on February 11, 2016 after a very unexpected event. Our beloved wife and mother was preceded in death by her parents Florencio & Alvina Gallegos, brother Jesus Gallegos, sister Rosa Solis, daughter Gloria Lopez and infant son Salvador. Surviving to cherish her memories is her husband of 61 years Daniel Sr., her sister Lucy Hernandez and her children Daniel Jr. (Kathy), Rosemary, Cristela, Yolanda and Ruben (Jay Hubble), 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She retired from MSU. She loved to cook. Her homemade flour tortillas were the best and she made a mean pot of oxtail soup. And let's not forget that she just loved her bingo. Maria was a charter member of Cristo Rey Church since 1963. Our beloved wife & mother lived for her family. Family was the most important factor in her life and now our family has an empty seat at the dinner table. She was deeply faithful and spoke her prayers with deep devotion. Visitation will be Sunday, February 14th from 4 to 6 pm with the rosary prayer at 5:30 P.M. in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday February 15th at 11:00 am at Cristo Rey Church, 201 W. Miller Rd. Lansing with Reverend Frederick Thelen, pastor officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday at church. The rite of committal will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Mother Theresa House in Lansing.
