Maris is survived by her daughter, Kris Aldaco (Edward); son, Eric Elliston; two grandchildren, Jessica Ahlers and Chase Elliston; sister, Barbara Livermore; and many nieces and nephews including special niece, Vicki. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruby and her sister, Carlene.
Maris obtained her associates degree at Lansing Community College and went on to open the Hudson Meridian Mall in 1982, retiring from Macey's in 2008. She loved to play the piano by ear and was a beautiful songwriter. She adored animals and enjoyed watching Animal Planet. Above all else, Maris loved her family and those who were fortunate enough to know and love her will remember her for the sweet lady that she was.
A memorial visitation for Maris will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly asks that you consider planting a tree in honor of Maris or make a contribution in Maris' memory to Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W Grand River Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48906.
