Passed away peacefully with her family at her side April 4, 2014. Marlene was born December 4, 1934 in Chicago the daughter of Harry and Vivian VanKessel. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, John Simon, sister, Nancy Leonard and her parents. She is survived by son, Jim (Chris) Simon, grandson, Tyler; daughter, Bonnie (David) Frank, grandson, Dan; Renee Arntz and only granddaughter, Michelle (David) DeWind, grandson, Shaun Arntz; Chad Darnell and great granddaughter, Marianna; sister, Bonnie Beerhalter, brothers, Skip (Donna), Craig , Bill (Judy) and Mike (Jean) VanKessel and many nieces and nephews. Our mom loved to play bingo, going to the casino and their annual trip to Las Vegas for their anniversary. Always playing those nickel slots!!! She loved to shop, always wanting to buy us something. She was a devoted wife, mother and Catholic who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. They were the joy of her life. She will be truly missed by many people. The family would like to thank Ingham Regional Assisted Living Staff, ESPECIALLY the caregivers that took such great care of our mom. Always there for her needs and ours when we couldn't be there. Marlene's family will celebrate her life with Mass on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St Gerard Catholic Church with Father John P. Klein officiating. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will held on Thursday at Tiffany Funeral Home from 4-8 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM as well as an hour prior to the service at Church on Friday.
