Age 80 passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014. She was born January 30, 1934 in Charlotte, TX the daughter of Juan and Rosa (Leal) Flores. Martina is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Daniel Salazar, Sr., second husband, James Adams, son, Edward Salazar, brothers, Alex Flores, Richard Flores, Louis Flores, sisters, Chinta Ovalles and Lupe Aguero. Martina was a very strong, compassionate, nurturing woman who loved her family, especially her grandchildren and always put them before herself. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, singing, dancing and going to casinos. She was also a fantastic cook, making sure no one went hungry. She had a strong work ethic which she instilled in her children. Martina retired from General Motors- Fisher Body after many years of service. She is survived by her children: Janie Wakefield, Stella (Dan) Salazar-Wright, Daniel (Jane) Salazar, Jr., Teresa (Mike) Dishongh, Mary (Rod) Snay, Tony Salazar, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, siblings: Mary Patino, Connie Luna, Juan (Josie) Flores, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
Martina's family will celebrate her life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Gerard Catholic Parish with Father Paul Erickson officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12th from 5-8 PM and Sunday, April 13th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a Rosary service at 7:30 PM at Tiffany Funeral Home, Lansing and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
