

Mary was born on November 3, 1944, in Owosso Michigan. Mary graduated from Michigan State University with a Master's Degree in education. She worked for the American Red Cross several years. She then worked 24 years for the Lansing School District as an adult education teacher. Mary was a member of the former Calvary Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the choir and the handbell choir there. Mary also enjoyed singing with her sister in the St. Columbkille choir in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was also a member of the New Horizon Band and the MSU Community Music School German Band. She also played trumpet in the Big Arts Band on Sanibel Island, Florida. Mary also loved traveling with her sister Norma. One of their favorite trips was to Europe for three weeks with the St. Columbkille choir. Mary would travel down to Ft. Myers quite often, especially in the winter months. Mary was passionate about singing, gardening and loved to travel. She was always eager to take on new adventures and sing with her sister. All who knew her will miss her dearly.
Mary is survived by her sister, Norma Myers of Ft. Myers, Florida. Her best friend Rebecca Armstrong, of East Lansing, caregiver and second cousin, Kelly Ribble, of Portland, and many nieces and nephews here in Michigan, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Mae Pettit, brother, Larry Pettit, sister, Alta Wagner-Smith, daughter Kimberly Buffamoyer, and son, John Buffamoyer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 20, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 517 S. Clinton Street, Grand Ledge, Michigan.
