

Mary spent her early life growing up in Mississippi, with her brothers and sisters. After graduating high school, she attended Mary Holmes Jr. College in West Point Mississippi later transferring to Central State University in Ohio. graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. She then enrolled at Michigan State University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education. Her love of learning and education motivated her to become an elementary school teacher. She was employed with the Lansing School District for over 30 years.
On August 19, 1989, Mary was united in holy matrimony to Henry Edwards. To this union they were blessed with two children, Anthony and Alexia.
At an early age, Mary accepted the lord into her life and was baptized at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church in Mississippi. Once settled in Michigan, she became a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Larry Copeland. She leaves behind husband Henry Edwards, son Anthony Edwards, daughter Alexia Edwards, sisters, Elizabeth Barnes and Shelia Copeland, brothers Jerry Copeland and Bobby Copeland, special cousin Minnie Thomas, a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear family and friends.
