Age 82 passed away peacefully on April 6, 2014. She was born March 22, 1932 in Lansing the daughter of Raymond and Helen Helfrich. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1949. She received her BS in 1968 from Michigan State University and her Masters in 1972 in Speech Pathology - Suma Cum Laud also from MSU. Mary worked for the Lansing School District as a Speech Pathologist. She retired in 1988. Mary enjoyed gardening, travel and singing soprano in several area choral groups, including Steiner Choral of Lansing, Matinee Musical Assoc., Central United Methodist Choral Choir and MSU Choral Union. She married the love of her life, Richard Earl Roush on February 4, 1951 in Ann Arbor, whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children: James C (Deborah) of Ypsilanti, Richard V. (Cathy) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Lori J. (Donald) Helms of Walker and Leslie L. (Randy) Gray of Lansing; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a niece, Suzanne Herendeen (Helfrich) of Chelsea. In addition to her loving husband of 62 years, Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Rex Reed, brother, James Helfrich, sister-in-law, Barbara Helfrich-Kaiser and niece, Carolyn Helfrich.
Funeral service is 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing with Rev Charles Krueger, Chaplain officiating.
