She joins her husband, Leon VanCleave, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2001. Mildred leaves behind her four children, Robert VanCleave, Loretta Grosser, Laura VanCleave, and Richard VanCleave, all of Lansing; two granddaughters, Ann Marie Grosser and Dawn Roper; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a member of West Union Baptist Church in Dresden, Tennessee. She was baptized in the name of our Lord in 1950. She continued in her faith until the end. Mildred was a devoted housewife and loving mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed gardening, roses, and crocheting. Things made by her hands are across the nation.
A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Bob Nappier of Parker Memorial Baptist Church, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48912. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at Delta Cemetery in Delta Township, Lansing, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823.
