Norman Earl Carrigan, Jr., a lifelong resident of the Lansing area, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026. Born on April 20, 1943, to parents Norman Carrigan and Arlene Leeper, Norm grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep-rooted love for the simple things in life. After graduating from DeWitt High School, he embarked on a dedicated career with Oldsmobile, where his steady hands and reliable nature helped him build a commendable 42-year tenure before his well-earned retirement.
Norm was a true outdoorsman at heart. Whether he was tracking game in the woods, casting a line into quiet waters, or setting up camp Up North, he felt most at home surrounded by nature. His passion for the great outdoors was matched only by his quick wit and love for a good laugh. Norm was well-known for his playful spirit and his fondness for joking around, always finding a way to bring a smile to the faces of family, friends, and coworkers alike.
He is now reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death, including his brother, Donald Carrigan, his grandson, Daniel Carrigan, Jr. and his best friend Jim Beech. Norm's memory and stubborn zest for life will be deeply cherished by those he leaves behind.
Norm is survived by his loving children: Michael Carrigan (Frida), Daniel Carrigan, and Donnamae Rogers (Shane), as well as his cherished godson, Josh Buzzo. He was a proud patriarch whose legacy extends through his many grandchildren, Warren Carrigan (Julie Roberts), April Kachinsky, Ashley Carrigan, Alanna Carrigan, David Porter (Lura), Anthony Porter, and Gabrielle Porter.
His family tree grew even brighter with the blessing of numerous great-grandchildren: Tytan Carrigan, Averi Rogers, Malachi Rogers, Mickaela Joslin, Sean Porter, Aleena Shaver, Kaiden Leithauser, and Draeven Leithauser. Each of them carries a piece of his resilient spirit and joyful nature.
Norm’s laughter, warmth, and stories from the woods will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. May he rest in eternal peace.
There will be a funeral service at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel (3232 W. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48917) on Monday, August 10 at 11:00 AM, with a visitation with family one hour prior at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery (801 Tully Brown Dr., Charlotte, MI 48813) after the service.
