Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family, on Sunday, December 7th, 2014, following a long battle with dementia. Patricia, “Pat”, is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jack; their two sons, Brent (Pamela), and Spencer; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one brother, Kris (Clara) Keeler, and one sister, Paula Witt. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Marshal “Jake” and Pauline Keeler. Pat was born to Jake and Pauline on February 7th, 1937 in Lansing, Michigan, and graduated from Eastern HS. Pat was always an avid, and often vocal, M.S.U. Football fan. “Colonel Pat” was the Director of Volunteers of America, Lansing, for 23 years. The VOA New Hope Center in Lansing was dedicated to Colonel Pat before her retirement in 1995. Pat loved her time at Houghton Lake and treasured every moment spent boating, fishing, sunbathing, and tending to her many flower beds. Christmas was always a very special time for Pat as she transformed her home with endless collection of Santa’s and Christmas knickknacks. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the caregivers of Hospice Advantage of Houghton Lake and Lansing for the excellent care she received over the past year. They wish to express heartfelt Thank You and Eternal Gratitude to the loving staff of Eaton County Palliative Care, (Hospice House), of Charlotte who served Pat with tremendous dignity and love through the final days of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Volunteers of America, (Lansing) Hospice Advantage, (Lansing), and Eaton County Palliative Care, (Charlotte). Pat’s family is being served by Gorsline Runciman, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held on December 12th, 2014 at 11:30 AM. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11th, 2014, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
