Patrick James Boog, age 72, of Okemos passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 4th. Pat was born in Lansing, MI, on March 22, 1950. He has been a local practicing attorney since 1983. He attended Waverly High School and then Aquinas College for his undergraduate degree where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He then graduated with his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Pat was a member of the East Lansing Rotary for many years and greatly enjoyed contributing to his community. He was heavily involved in the development of the Medal of Honor Memorial in front of the Hannah Community Center, the East Lansing Family Aquatic Center splash pad, and in projects at Patriarche Park. Pat was the founder and president of the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award. He attended countless Michigan State University sporting events.
Nothing was more important to Pat than his family. He coached his children’s sports teams, volunteered for numerous school events and field trips, and never missed a game, recital, or special event. This love for family spread to his extended family. He loved attending special events for his nieces, nephews, and their children. Pat was notorious for his unique sense of humor and love for embarrassing his daughters. He was known to be a jokester, teaser, and would do anything to make people around him smile. He was passionate about sports, both watching and playing, and an avid reader and learner. Pat instilled his love of learning in his children. He was always willing to assist with school assignments and add a few “smarter words.” He never hesitated to tell his children to “look it up” when he used a new word that they hadn’t heard.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Lindsey, Kristen, Nicole, grandchildren, Ryan and Brad, his partner of 11 years, Lynette Hahn and her family, and his former wife, Lori. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael (Joan) Boog, Don (Patricia) Boog, Roger Boog (Laurie Bell), Maureen (Don) Dunham, Greg (Delane) Boog, Janine (Rick) Washburn, and Tim Boog, and his many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Martha and Ernest Boog, his niece, Michelle Boog, his nephew, Chad Henderson, and many aunts and uncles.
A private service for family and friends will be held July 30th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Michelle Boog Scholarship Fund care of St. Johns High School (501 W. Sickles St., St. Johns, MI 48879) or the East Lansing Rotary.
