Peggy was born in Fort Hood, Belton Texas to Douglas and Josephine Winnie on Monday February 24, 1947. Peggy was 1 of 6 children, 4 sisters and 1 brother. All of which have proceeded her in death.
Peggy attended Lansing Public Schools. She enjoyed her high school years at Eastern. Peggy went on to nursing school. Her love for people and desire to help went far beyond her interest in nursing. She would go out of her way to help anyone. Not only did she raise her 9 children. Joseph Pease, Barbara Triplett, Lillian Pease, Christina ( Danny) Aibout, Gloria (Steve) Chippo, Peggy Delacruz, Laura Pease, Catherine Pease (deceased ) Patricia Pease (deceased). But she also raised 6 step children. David Embry Jr. Angela Embry, Deandra Embry, Laura Embry, Erica (Joash) Wahonya and Amanda Hall. In the middle of raising her children she also found time to raise several of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Peggy came to know the Lord in 1981. Under theGodly leadership of Reverend Duane Ford. She was a life time member of The First Church of the Nazarene . She loved sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone she met.
Peggy was very active in the community. She loved church and singoing in the choir. She participated in multiple fund raisers and had a very lovable way of encouraging others to get involved. Her favorite singers of all times were her husband (David Embrey) and Patsy Cline (Walkin After Midnight). Peggy had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to dance and shake-n-shimmy. She loved to make others happy and to see people smile. She never met a stranger, People seemed to be drawn to her magnatic personality. She loved family gatherings, cooking, card games, horse shoes and making people laugh. Peggy was very easy to talk to and well liked every where she went. There was no misunderstandings with Peggy. She said what she meant and meant what she said.
Peggy was a jack of all trades. She was an entrepreneur. She owned and operated Peggy’s Diner (where she became well known for her home made cinnamon rolls) Peggy also owned Brooms, mops and more. She assisted her husband in creating his signature barbecue sauce (That’s A Wrapp). Peggy worked several jobs and helped an untold number of people their businesses off the ground.
Peggy wore many hats and held multiple titles. Some of which were: Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Friend, Confidant, Singer, Aunt, Sister-in-Law, Daughter-in-Law, Church Lady, Dancer, Boss Lady and Problem Solver. But the jobs she loved most was being a mother to all of her children and a wife to her husband.
Peggy also shared a special bond with her mother-in-law Mrs. Rosie Lee Embry. (Who preceded her in death ) The two of them were extremely close. Peggy visited her often They would sing together, watch TV, cook and talk all the time about everything .
Peggy is survived by her husband, (David Embrey), her 7 children , 6 step children, several in-laws, extended family and friends and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
