

Phillip’s father passed away when he was 5 years old of pneumonia, and he was raised by his mom and aunt. In high school he was very athletic, playing baseball, football, and track, and he received a varsity letter for both football and track. After graduating high school he attended University of Iowa and served in the Army, stationed in Alaska from 1951-1954. Phil married his wife in 1954, and together they moved to Michigan in 1958. He worked for MDOT for 37 years as a civil engineer and designed roads. He was a member of choir and men’s fellowship at church. Phil loved MSU sports, golfing, cycling, jogging, and spending time at the cottage, which he built.
Phillip is survived by his daughter Carol Christy; son, James (Angela) Christy; two grandchildren Max and Makenna Christy.
A celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Pilgrim Congregational Church 125 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Lansing MI. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI.
