

She was born January 5, 1948 to Raymond and Ellen (Davis) Platt in Lansing, Michigan,
She graduated from Sexton High School and attended Western Michigan University and Lansing Community College.
She married Duane G. Abbot on February 25, 1967. Duane served in the Navy as a Seabee. Duane and Rae Ellen were stationed in Rhode Island when they welcomed their twin daughters, Lisa Marie and Lori Michelle. Their third daughter, Traci Lynn, was born three years later. Duane, Lisa, Lori, and Traci were tragically killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident on August 7, 1974. Rae Ellen was seriously injured in the accident and was in a coma for six weeks. She became a staunch advocate working with legislators to pass drunk driving laws and was the co-founder of the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, She was an impactful public speaker who spoke frequently to student groups on the dangers of drunk driving.
Rae Ellen Married Lawrence A. Foy on August 17, 1979. Their son Andy Michael, was born the following year. In retirement, Larry and Rae Ellen moved to their dream home in Mecosta in 1990. She was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church (DeWitt) and St. Michael’s Catholic Church (Remus).
She is preceded in death by; her parents, Raymond and Ellen Platt; her sister, Sandra Platt; her husband, Duane Abbott; her daughters Lisa, Lori, and Traci Abbott; and her husband, Lawrence Foy.
She is survived by; her son Andy Foy; her step-daughters, Lisa (Jess) Kingston, Leslie (Grant) Myers, and Lara (Dave) Miller; her step-son Landon (Wendy) Foy; her grandchildren; Konnor and Brooklyn Foy; Michael and Ezra Messer; Adam (Karen) Kingston; Lindsey (Faisal) Akram; Hannah (Paul) Coomer; Nicholas Myers; Ryan, Mackenzie, and Nicole Foy; Alex, Travis, and Amber Miller; Rachel (Robert) Pachan; and Linda (Corey) Huard; and great-grandchildren: Jolene, Carter, Luca, Madeline, Oakley, Anaya, and Zayna.
A Funeral Service will be held at Gorsline-Runciman Lansing Chapel located at 900 E. Michigan Avenue on August 13th at 11am. Family will be accepting visitors starting at 10am. A burial will follow services at 12:30pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery located at 1800 E Mt Hope Avenue.
