Richard Spencer Dunham, 88, of Haslett, Michigan, was born in Lansing on January 19, 1938, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2026. He was born to Lee and Grace Dunham of Lansing, Michigan, formerly Bath, Michigan.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Duane, Doyle, and Donald, and sister Gloria Orr.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Dunham of Haslett and her family; Richard’s daughter, Teri Christensen; and grandson, Samuel Christensen. Richard loved family and treasured time with those he held dear. He had many nieces and nephews, and was proud that many in the family are Michigan State University (MSU) graduates.
Richard’s loyalty to MSU ran deep. A huge football fan, he also gave his time and leadership as a former board member for the Downtown Coaches Club and the MSU Football Boosters. He was awarded recognition as an honorary inductee for the Varsity S Club.
His passion was Corvettes. Richard owned and restored vintage Corvettes, bringing patience, precision, and high standards to every detail. A Level 400 Master Judge with the National Corvette Restorers Society and Bloomington Gold. He became widely known as “the Wheel Guy” through his restoration business.
Richard was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School. Following graduation, he attended MSU and joined the U.S. Army, where he became a Sergeant in the military police, followed by service in the Michigan National Guard. He later worked with the Michigan State Police and retired as a facilities superintendent under the Department of Education.
Richard loved Jesus. He and Susan were married at New Hope Church and attended worship services there.
Visitation for Richard will be August 3, 2026, from 4-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman’s East Lansing chapel. Services will be held at New Hope Church, East Lansing, at 11 am on August 4 with visitation at 9:30 am, followed by burial at Gunnisonville Cemetery.
