Age 57, rode in to the sunset on Thursday, November 21, 2012. He was born on May 1, 1955 to Wayne Slocum and Gladys Brendahl. Rick retired from Fisher Body after 22 years of service. Everyone who knew Rick, knew his passion for speed, which is why he enjoyed Open Wheel Racing and NASCAR so much, if he wasn’t able to be driving something fast himself. Among the many things he loved, the two most prominent were his Harley and collection of Swarovski Crystal. Rick is loved and remembered by his wife of over 35 years, Tina; daughter, Charity; 2 brothers, Robert and Rodney (Donna) Slocum; aunt, Martha (Nick) Hellis; special friends, Joe Hernandez and Jim (Beth) Morehouse and numerous other dear friends. Last but certainly not least, his four legged furry friends, Storm and Star. Rick was preceded in death by: brother, Randy Slocum; mother, Gladys Brendahl and father, Wayne Slocum. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Slocum’s family and sent to Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E.
