He will be greatly missed by his children; Michele (Doug) Binkley, Donna, Kevin and Julie (Curt) Hanson and Grandchildren; Brandon (Claire) Binkley, Brooke Binkley and Jaden Hanson and sister Diane. Richard was preceded in death by his twin brother Robert and sister Madeline as well as parents Remi and Juliette Roy.
Born in Providence RI, Richard was an Air Force Veteran. The Air Force truly shaped his future; he and Janice met while he was stationed at Scotts Air Force base and he was trained as a computer programmer. Programming led him to his proudest job working for the Detroit Tigers. While he was an avid Spartan fan, his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren play sports. He was the most loving Grandpa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Stella and Graham Binkley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Resurrection Church in Lansing with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Cancer Research, Resurrection Church or St. Thomas Outreach Mass.
