

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Edwin Orva Saxman who departed this life on June 10, 2025, at the age of 88. Richard was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
Born on January 31, 1937, in Lansing, MI, Richard lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family, church, and country. He brought joy, humor, and wisdom into the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on his family, friends, and countless others.
Richard was known for being a leader and a friend. When his children were in school, he served as the PTA president and was involved in helping with the bicentennial float for Cavanaugh Elementary School. He also served as the President of the Michigan Lapidary Society of Michigan and was a member of Chief Okemos Sportsman’s Club. He was a dedicated servant for the Lord and member of Judson Memorial Baptist Church where he served at many posts. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and bad dad jokes. He enjoyed making jewelry, woodworking, and fishing.
Richard Edwin Orva Saxman is survived by his son Paul (Malkah) Saxman and daughter Janice (Gary) Marchal; grandchildren: Mitchel Saxman, Travis Saxman, Justin (Ashley) Saxman, Alexis (Michael) Trezza, Christian Saxman, Blake Saxman, Isaac Saxman, Samantha Snell, and Nick Snell; great-grandchildren, Gabby, Noah, Eli and Weston along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Margie Robinson and Phyllis Rich; and the love of his life, Dolores Saxman.
Visitation will be Friday, June 13 from 10:00am - 2:00pm and 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Gorsline Runciman - Lansing Chapel 900 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating Richard Edwin Orva Saxman’s life on Saturday, June 14, at 11:00 AM at Judson Baptist Church 531 Glendale Ave. Lansing, MI 48910. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Judson Baptist Church, continuing his legacy of generosity and compassion.
May Richard Edwin Saxman’s soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who loved him.
