Dimondale, MI
Born June 2, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Florence and Donald Siebert, passed away July 31, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. He now joins his beloved wife, Janet, who preceded him in death six years ago. Dick joined the U. S. Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. When the war was over he moved to Lansing and lived at the YMCA. He started working for General Motors in 1955 and retired after 38 years of service. Dick met Janet when she was a waitress at Knapp’s. They shared 45 years of marriage before she passed away. When they got married he acquired a ready-made family. Surviving to cherish his memory are his step-children; Butch Heany, Kathleen (Donald) Maurer, Jim (Sandy) Heany, Dan (Barb) Heany, John (Fran) Heany and Sharon (Ben) Lycos; he also leaves 14 loving grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and step-son, Butch Heany. In his spare time Dick was a voracious reader and loved to tend his lawn and home. Dick and Janet loved to go away on small jaunts around Michigan just to get away; were it to be visiting friends that they knew when they were younger, family or mushrooming. They would also go on longer trips that would take them to see the other parts of the United States. A memorial service will be held at a later date. For those desiring contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Dick. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.grlansing.com
