Rickey Jorgensen, 49, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. A lifelong resident of the Lansing and East Lansing area, Rickey was born on May 27, 1976, in Lansing, where he spent his life building a legacy rooted in love, craftsmanship, and authenticity.
Rickey was a masterful painter and finish carpenter whose skilled hands brought beauty and precision to every project he touched. He took immense pride in his work, approaching each task with dedication and artistry that reflected his deep respect for the craft.
Beyond his profession, Rickey was a man of vibrant passions and unwavering loyalty. A lifelong lover of comic books, he could often be found reading one or proudly wearing a shirt that showcased his favorite characters. His enthusiasm for comics was more than a hobby—it was a part of who he was. He also enjoyed collecting sports cards and had a deep love for golf, both playing and watching the game whenever he could.
Rickey’s heart belonged to many things—but perhaps none more than his beloved dogs. A devoted dog owner, he cherished their companionship deeply; some might even say Webbie held a special place as his favorite child.
Those who knew Rickey will remember him as truly one of one—uniquely himself, deeply genuine, and always just a little “out there” in the best possible way. His huge heart guided him through life; he never hesitated to help others, whether they were close friends or complete strangers. His love ran deep—especially for his family—and he gave everything he had to those he cared about.
Rickey is survived by his loving wife Anastasia Jorgensen; his two children: Rickey Jr. (Megan) Jorgensen and Alexis (Zachary Hubbell) Jorgensen; and his brother Travis Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rickey Cox and Linda Jorgensen.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced.
His spirit, humor, and boundless love will be missed beyond words. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
