It is with sorrow in our hearts that we share the news of the passing of Robert Earl Myers who peacefully left us on June 11, 2025, at the age of 93 after over five years battling cancer. Bob was an integral part of his family, touching everyone’s lives with his generosity, optimism, and unwavering determination. His absence leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all. His absence is also a reminder to always live life to its fullest like Bob did.
Bob never quit fighting until the end and wanted everyone to remember that “You’re not done until you’re done.” In addition to his family, he made it a lifelong priority to be active in his church, Grace Lutheran, and to support others through generously giving his time, skills, and resources.
Born on August 28, 1931, to Herbert J. and Erna Myers, Bob demonstrated a zesty spunk for life and an amazing sense of humor even in his final days and hours. He brought warmth, joy, generosity, and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, a cherished friend to many and an inspiration to all.
During his 20 years as a Navy Diver, Bob was awarded the National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Star), three Good Conduct Medals, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (Europe), and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Lebanon). Bob retired from the Navy as a lieutenant. He then worked in sales at Monumental Life Insurance, Montgomery Wards, and NAPA Auto Parts where his charm and humor came in handy until he fully retired giving him more time to enjoy golf with his friends and family.
He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife, Nancy Myers, and his younger brother, Roger Myers. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Lester Myers and Ruth Schwartz; granddaughters, Chelsea Myers (Jeff Mills), Abby Knill (Don), Amanda Mealy (Taryn Berkal); grandson, Lance Bateman; great grandson, Kolton Robert Mills; brother, Don Myers (Anita); brother-in-law, Terry Stubblefield, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Though he may no longer be with us physically, the memories created, his pride and determination, and his legacy will continue to live on in our hearts forever.
The funeral will be held to honor Bob’s life on July 14, 2025 at Grace Lutheran, 528 N. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Lansing, MI 48915, visitation at 11:00, funeral at 12:00. A graveside service with military honors at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens will follow the funeral, attendance is optional. In addition, the family invites you to join them at Royal Scot after the funeral or graveside service to celebrate Bob’s life and legacy. The Celebration of Life at Royal Scot will start at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local humane society, homeless shelter, or other charitable causes in Bob’s honor.
Rest in peace, Robert. Your presence will be deeply missed, your impact on our lives will never be forgotten, we are all better people for having known you.
