

Roger William Leifheit, age 77, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Roger was born in Lansing, Michigan to Jane (Phillips) Leifheit and Ervin "Pete" Leifheit. Roger graduated from Sexton High School in 1964 and went onto school to Montana State where he studied for two years before being drafted to the United States Army, where he served for two years. Roger worked at Douglas Steel as a structural steel draftsman for 40 years until he retired in 2012.
Roger met his wife, Mary, at Fort Polk in Louisiana and the two married on June 6th, 1970 in an intimate ceremony in the chapel of the hospital they both worked. Roger had many hobbies and passions in life including spending a lot of his time outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt in places like Canada, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Rogers’s vacations included taking his family camping. He could commonly be found in the garden tending to the plants, and eating his wife’s lasagna. Rogers’s most prized possession was his family, and he was a proud and devoted grandfather and father. Even if you had only known Roger for a short period of time, you would know just how loving and selfless of a man he was.
Roger is survived by his spouse, Mary Elizabeth Leifheit (Randolph); his daughter Sarah (Leifheit) Bates; his grandson Kyle Bates, fiancé Mairin Knauss and his grandson Evan Bates, girlfriend Olivia St. Germain; sister Donna (Leifheit) Park, husband Larry Park; brother-in-law Jim Randolph Jr., wife Judy (Robinson) Randolph.
Roger was preceded in death by his father Ervin "Pete" Leifheit and his mother Jane (Phillips) Leifheit.
Roger will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, Michigan.
