Roger Ray Smith, of Holt, Michigan passed away July 30, 2025, at the age of 78. Roger was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 22, 1947, to Rex and Lorraine (Kerr) Smith. He retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation after 45 years of service.
Roger lived in Holt for over 40 years. He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing or golfing. For many years he had a second seasonal job preparing taxes for friends, family, and other clients, often making house calls to prepare the taxes (and getting a homecooked meal in the process).
Roger is survived by daughter, Rebecca Smith; granddaughters, Gabrielle and Madison Mathews and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Claudia (Dennis) Keeton and Rexine (Tom) Metts; nieces, nephews and many friends and business acquaintances. He is preceded in death by brother, Jerry Kain.
A memorial visitation will be held August 14, 2025, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing, Michigan 48912.
