Roger Dale Williams, Mason, MI was born July 30, 1947 in Wardell, MO to Roger Redman Williams and Edna Lucille (Waddell) Williams. Roger lost his courageous, year-long battle with cancer early Tuesday morning, April 20, 2021.
He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as part of the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, earning the Bronze Star Medal. Upon honorable discharge, Roger began what was to become a 30-year career in skilled trades at General Motors, retiring in 1999.
Roger raised two boys and loved taking them to Silver Lake where they spent many memorable years boating, dune-buggying, dirt-biking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and making life-long friends. Along with spending time with his boys, he loved his hunting and fishing trips, playing intense games of Euchre and Yahtzee with dear friends, teaching his grandchildren to fish and quad, and enjoying an occasional cold Bud Light. Trips south to hunt and visit extended family were a highlight of his year. Roger also loved traveling with trips to Italy, Florida, the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C., New York City, Maine, and annual trips with great friends being especially memorable.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, son Tony Williams, sister Paula May (Jim) Moran, brother Ronnie Williams, many deer and Boo-Boo the bear.
Surviving are his loving wife Linda (Siegrist) Williams, son Shannon Williams; step-sons Andy Pavona and Brian (Heather) Pavona; grandchildren Taylor, Jadeyn, Isaac, and Charlie; great grand-children Anthony and Veda; sisters Diann (Howard) Murphy, Dotty Kirchenbauer (John Garlitz), Gail Sayles, Tammie Bozzo; in-laws Barb (Dennis) Acker, Sue (Charlie) Husby, Carol VanSyckle, Debby (Dave) Zwier, and Jim (Tammy Hamelink) Siegrist and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
