Rolando was the ninth born of 10 children. He grew up on the southside of Lansing and then moved to Southern California where he spent several years surfing and spending time at the beaches. He then moved to and lived in Harlingen, Texas where he had several Primos, Tias and friends. He became a father with the birth of his son, Aurelio. He also was a father figure to Mekenna, both children were beloved and cherished -- he loved them with all his heart and being a father brought him much pride and joy. Aurelio and Mekenna added a sparkle to his eyes.
Standing at 6'4" the warmth of his smile was his first embrace. The simplest pleasures in life gave Rolando the greatest joy, but none as much as helping people and making a friend. Rolando loved a great many things, a jack of all trades you might say, but his mastery was in kindness. Whether he met you today or years before, Rolando was quick to extend his friendship. He had a love for helping others and would readily offer his skills in carpentry or in the culinary arts, simply because he could.
Whether preparing a feast or repairing a disaster, no one was a stranger to Rolando.
While Rolando left all of us too soon, the imprint he made in our hearts will last a lifetime.
Rolando is survived by his children, Aurelio Alejandro Sanchez and Mekenna Van Gould; his siblings:
Margarita (Ramiro) Gonzales, Bernardino Sanchez, Daniel (Norman) Sanchez, Beatriz (Gregory) Sanchez, Miguel (Stephanie) Sanchez, Jesus (Sharon) Sanchez, Norma (Nicholas) Sanchez, and
