

"Rosie"

Age 84, went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2013, surrounded by a multitude of family and friends. Rosie operated The Little People's Drapery Shop for many years. She was a community activist who never hesitated to help anyone in need. She worked as a counselor for Volunteers of American, worked with the Housing Commission, and co-founded and operated Castle Ministries, in North Lansing, which provides room and board for foreign college students in need, The Women's Opportunity House, and various women's shelter operations.
Rosazella was born in Revenna, Ohio on May 26, 1929 to Benjamin Turrentine and Barbara Wright, who preceded her in death, as well as brothers Ronald , Robert, and Howard, and husband, Walter Phillips. Rosazella is survived by her children: Donna (Jim) Jackson (Lansing), Audrey Ellis (N.C.), Deborah Snaden (Lansing), Garry Stevenson (Maggie) (N.C.), and Trent Stevenson (Lansing), and two adopted daughters, Connie Diane Phillips (Southfield) and Jackie Milton (Lansing), and brother Winford Turrentine (Ohio). Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and many cherished friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial Celebration of Rosie's life will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 Aurelius Rd. on August 3, 2013 at twelve Noon.
