

The ORIGINAL owner of the Casa Nova Restaurant! Native born, lifelong resident Rose Marie (Oscarino) Falsetta peacefully passed away on January 6, 2017 after 97 wonderful years of family, food, fashion, travel, friends and community service. Born in 1919 to Joseph (1895-1980) and Theresa (1900-1983) Oscarino, Rose was the big sister to Dorothy Hornberger (1927-1981) and Evelyn Ezzo. In 1939 Rose graduated from the Acme Business College and worked at the Secretary of State's office for 25 yrs. Rose married the love of her life, Fred Falsetta (1920-1982), together they brought Pizza and traditional Italian Cuisine to the Lansing area. Rose and Fred built a successful business and gave generously to their community and family; even as first generation Americans they found and lived the "American Dream". Rose was lover of fashion( with meticulous attention to detail and a keen sense of style), event planning, golf, being with friends, and sharing her time with her family. For 50 years, Rose volunteered for St. Lawrence / Sparrow Hospital. (1972) Chairman of the Pink Ball, (1974) President of St. Lawrence Hospital Auxiliary, (1980) Board member of St. Vincent, and continuing member of Angelus League, Assisium League, former president of Mary Magdalene League as well as providing monetary support to countless other charitable organizations and events. Rose loved to travel, a globetrotting & scheduler extraordinaire. She shared every excursion with friends and family, Rome, Paris, London, Jerusalem, Bangkok, and many other exciting locations including meeting family in the "old country" around Naples, Italy. She will be fondly missed by her sister, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Visitation is from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 10, with a 7:30 P.M. Rosary in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein presiding. Viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at church. Rite of committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in memory of Rose.
