Steve Andreadis, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 2. Born in Peabody, Massachusetts, he received his bachelor?s degree at Boston University and attended Harvard University for graduate studies until he was called to serve his country during World War II. In 1946 he married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Sally, and moved to Lansing, where they owned and operated Sal?s Coffee Shop for 27 years. Their union produced one child, Stephanie, who was the apple of her daddy?s eye. Steve was an avid reader, baseball fanatic, historian, political follower, and one of the greatest storytellers there ever was. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Steve was preceded in death by Sally, his wife of 57 years. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie and son-in-law David Lockhart. Although his family was small, there was a great bond of love and support among them. Sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Whitehills Health Care Center for their care over the past four years, and to the dedicated nurses and aides of Great Lakes Hospice, all of whom became a friend to Steve. A memorial service officiated by Father Mark Sietsema will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve?s name to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lansing, or to Great Lakes Hospice of East Lansing.
