Steven Howard Riel

Steven H. Riel, Lansing Age 65, passed away March 17, 2017. He was born February 23, 1952 in Lansing, MI to Robert Abram Riel and Dema Louise (Torrey) Riel. A graduate of Sexton High School and Lansing Community College, Steve retired in 2014 from the Capital Area District Library after 28 years. With a trademark laugh and mischievous twinkle in his eye, he enjoyed his retirement and spent time reading, camping and enjoying his family and friends. Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his wife Kathy (Kletke) Riel; children Stevi Riel of Muskegon, MI and Eric (Neala Kelly) Riel of Lansing MI; granddaughter, Dema Rose Riel of Lansing; siblings Carolyn (Robert) Stott of Aransas Pass, TX, Lisa Riel of Holt, Richard (Tammy) Riel of Panama City, FL; 3 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; 9 nieces and nephews; and 7 great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home (900 E Michigan Ave) for a visitation 11am-1pm and service 1pm-2pm Thursday March 23, 2017.
