

Stonewall Jackson Cross, born November 18, 1934 to Blatsford Cavanaugh and Mary Belle (Haynes) Cross, passed away October 11, 2014. Mr. Cross was a Godly man who loved his family. His passion was music and from the age of 16 he played with numerous bands. He served his country in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion in Bath. He worked as a school teacher, retiring from Riley Elementary School in St. Johns. He had a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Liberty University and served as a deacon at the Walker Baptist Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. Faytha Fogle. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Sue Cross; daughter, Brenda Miller; son, James “Jim” Cross; grandchildren, Caroline and Kimberly Miller; brother-in-law, John Patterson; and nephews and niece, Neal, John, Steve, Jeffrey and Penny Patterson. Funeral services for Mr. Cross will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 15, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, with Pastor David Garver of Walker Baptist Bible Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Walker Baptist Bible Church, 400 E. Frederick Avenue, Lansing, MI 48906, in memory of Stonewall Jackson Cross.
