Suzanne Maltby

January 22, 1950 – December 17, 2025
Obituary of Suzanne Maltby
IN THE CARE OF

Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel

Suzanne Maltby, age 75, of Lansing, MI was born January 22, 1950, to Grover and Margaret Maltby and passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

A graduate of Waverly High School in Lansing, Michigan, Suzanne went on to build a long and dedicated career at General Motors, where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring. She formed friendships there that she cherished well into retirement, especially enjoying time spent with her beloved “gal pals” from GM.

Suzanne had a deep love for all animals and an even deeper compassion for people. She was actively involved with Homeless Angels and was devoted to helping those in need. Whether working in the soup kitchen, donating clothing, or offering her time and care, Suzanne gave selflessly and wholeheartedly to the homeless community.

Above all else, Suzanne was devoted to her children, who were the center of her world. She also held a special place in her heart for her siblings and valued those family bonds deeply.

Known for her sassy spirit, Suzanne was truly “small but mighty.” Her personality filled a room. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Wendi Cooper and Brian Bemis; step-grandchildren; Charlie (Alicia) Cooper and Ben Cooper; step-great grandchildren: Austin Cooper, Wyatt Cooper, Cody Cooper, Kinley Cooper and Dalten Cooper; siblings: Walter (Sharon) Karns, Darlene Fedewa and Christine (Roger) Rozema; brother-in-law Matt Honeycutt; best friend Marcie Alleman; and friends and neighbors Kurt and Milena and their daughter, Julia, whom Suzanne adopted as her granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Peter M. Cooper Jr.; and siblings: Bruce Maltby and Jaqueline Honeycut.

Memorial contributions in memory of Suzanne may be made to the Capital Area Human Society, 7095 West Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI 48906.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at a date yet to be determined.
