Thoburn Albert Nelson

Warren, MI

Born March 10, 1925 in Lansing, MI the son of Wilfred and Anne Nelson, passed away February 21, 2012 at the age of 86. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Nelson served his country in WWII. He retired as a procurement specialist for the federal government after many years of service. He loved to travel. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his son, Steven. Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Elizabeth (Joseph) Kinney and Catherine (Patrick) Mercer; sons, Patrick (Christi) Nelson, Timothy Nelson and Michael (Sheryl) Nelson; daughter-in-law, Gloria Nelson; 15 loving grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with the Rev. Robert Kinney officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery where military honors will be provided.
