Thomas Lee Woodruff known as Tommy or Tom was an inspiration to all those who knew him. He was such a kind man with the biggest heart toward all animals, feeding them year round, and because he never married, a few animals became his family, (like children). At age 68 he was very fit, riding his bicycle on day trips, observing all of Lansing, and several surrounding towns. Tommy never had a driver’s license, so maybe you knew or saw him as he rode his bike his entire life. Tommy loved classical music and had an ear for the very finest. Throughout his life he listened to music hours at a time remembering every note. He also possessed a photographic memory for significant dates or happenings during his life including total recall of information on the solar system, gunfighters of the Wild West, and birth/death dates of all people he knew or heard about. After he was given a date to remember, he assured us with the expression, “it’s in the vault”. Thomas, one of four children was born to the late Leland Thomas and Myrtle Emma Woodruff. His siblings, Janice (Ronald) Land, Kathryn (Carl) Brasser, and Lawrence (Lisa) Woodruff, will always love him dearly. Five nieces and two nephews also survive him. In addition, there are two grand nieces and six grand nephews. Tommy was a devout Jehovah’s Witness. David Price of the Kingdom Hall on Delta River Drive will officiate at Tommy’s service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan, Lansing. His father and mother rest in the Deepdale Cemetery, in Lansing, where Tommy will be laid to rest after the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the Lansing Chapel on Monday August 30, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breslin Cancer Center, 401 W. Greenlawn, Lansing, MI, or Capital Area Humane Society 7095 West Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI 48906, in memory of Tommy.
