Val J Simmons "Butch", 74, of Lansing, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2017. Butch worked many years at the Val-Lot Ceramics with his mother "Lottie" and sister "Mary". Butch spent 10 years as a greeter at Walmart, retiring in 2014. Butch was in the Army and served in the Vietnam war. His is survived by 4 sisters: Mary, Lu, Judy and Peggy. 2 Brothers: Ernie Finch and Ed Franklin. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Mother Lottie, and his Father Val, Sister Dawn, Birth Mother Peggy. Butch will be remembered for his smile, sense of humor, playing checkers and cards with Courtney & Taylor, and being a wonderful father figure to Dixie and Paul. We will all miss him dearly. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
