Vane was born in Lansing on January 5, 1930. He attended Everett Schools and graduated in 1948. After High School he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country for 3 years. He then worked at Sears Roebuck for 36 years and was the manager of the Appliance Department and then the Automotive Service Department.
Vane was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Shaver Jory and his son, Fred Jory.
He is survived by his wife, Libby Shuck Jory; Daughter-in-law, Deborah Jory; Son, Donald Jory and wife Betty; Grandson, Donald Jory, Jr.; Granddaughters, Ashley Wheat, Danielle Shaw, and Nicole Shaw. Many nieces and nephews. Fourteen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Extended Family - Robert Shuck (Jackie), Roger Shuck (Pam), Ronald Shuck, Connie Vernon (Don).
Vane loved God, family, and others, and his faithful dog, Mitzy. He enjoyed watching the birds and the changing seasons from his enclosed deck. He loved working with wood and making gifts for people.
