She earned her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and her master's degree from Central Michigan University. She completed her student teaching in Genesee County before beginning the career that would impact generations of students.
Vickie dedicated her life to education and spent 33 years serving the Genesee School District. Throughout her career, she taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels before concluding her career as the district's athletic director. She was passionate about supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, organizing memorable field days and coaching girls' softball and basketball.
In 1999, Vickie was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. True to her resilient nature, she faced the challenge with determination and celebrated many healthy years following her successful treatment.
Vickie enjoyed golfing and participated in several golf leagues throughout the Flint area. She had a lifelong love for cats and dogs, enjoyed traveling, and treasured time with her family. One of her greatest joys was exploring the world with her beloved wife of 33 years, Elain. Together they traveled throughout Alaska, Australia, and Europe, creating lasting memories. As a couple, Vickie and Elaine faced many challenges during a time when acceptance was far less common, but their enduring love and commitment carried them through every obstacle. Vickie remained committed to serving others outside of the school and her family over the years. She proudly served as a deacon at Flint Metro Community Church, where her faith and dedication to her community were evident.
Vickie will be lovingly remembered by her wife, Elain Donnoe, and her son, Josh; her siblings, Mary Pride and Harold (Sue) Korroch; her grandchildren, Ben, Sam, and Joe; her sisters-in-law, Pat (Rick) Kamykowski and Andi (Dave) Schafer; her aunt, Marion Korroch; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, former students, and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt and Geneva Korroch and her brother-in-law, Ron.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 12pm with a funeral service beginning at 1pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home (900 E Michigan Ave, Lansing). Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vickie's memory may be made to your local animal shelter.
