morning, September 4, 2023, with her family by her side. Born March 8,
1933 in Frostburg, MD she was one of four children of the late Ruth and
Grant Winebrenner.
Virginia met her husband Edwin working at a local hardware store in
Frostburg, MD. They were soon married and settled in Lansing, Michigan in
1954 where they raised four kids. Virginia worked a full-time job at Bud
Kouts Chevrolet for 47 years, selling cars and running the leasing
department. She sold cars better than anyone else on the lot and earned the
respect of her customers for her honesty and fairness. Her motto was:
"Never lie to your customers." She retired probably sooner than she wanted
A woman who always needed to be busy, Virginia devoted many years to
volunteer work for the Retired & Senior Volunteer Programs of Ingham,
Eaton & Clinton Counties making baby blankets, quilts, hats, and face masks
supporting local hospitals, schools, and churches. She always looked forward
to her quilting trips to Paducah KY with her friends.
Virginia was loved greatly by her family and treasured her time with them
and their nightly dinners at home. Her grandchildren brought her great joy,
and she spoiled them rotten in person or with care packages at least once a
month. She was thankful for the extra care and attention from her nieces
and nephews over the last months. Although she didn't quite make it there,
you would often hear her say Im gonna live to be 100.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 69 years, Edwin, children David (wife
Megan), Patricia, Robert, and Duane (wife Stephanie); three grandchildren,
Jack, Jordan, and Ian; sister Carolyn Knickmeier and brother Darrell
Winebrenner. She was preceded in death by her brother Jim Winebrenner
A small family memorial gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Retired & Senior Volunteer
