Well, Grandma, the ride is over, and you are walking along the path that ends at the clearing where I’m sure your sisters are giggling, seeing you walk their way. I know these past couple of years were difficult for you both physically and emotionally, but you always kept that smile on your face and never forgot to say “I love you” every time we said goodbye.
I am so thankful for the time we shared together. So many memories like...
Being pulled as a kid from the snow piles, we jumped into next to your house in Michigan.
Burning my fingers on the dune buggy exhaust Uncle Charlie had because little me couldn’t resist touching it…
The many trips to Key Largo to visit with you and Grandpa Moore to fish in Blackwater Sound. Taking Grandpa Moore his ‘medicine,’ you mixed him up in one of his nautical cups after we returned, so he could drink it and take his afternoon nap under the canopy at the house.
The fishing trip I got to take with Great Grandpa Thompson on Houghton Lake, only to worry the entire time how I was going to swim him back to shore if his boat’s transom were to fall completely off (for those of you wondering, ask me one day about it).
The shock of seeing your smiling face at my high school graduation (I didn’t know she was going to be there until I saw her while walking across the podium)
Having meals with you in Ft. Myers, your tropical drink in hand, singing along to a little Jimmy Buffett on the radio.
Good times and great memories!
I love you, Grandma, and I’m glad you are now reunited with those who went before you. You deserve to be happy and free. Cherish that time, and I look forward to seeing that smiling face when my time comes to walk that path that ends at the clearing.
Love Always,
Jeffery
