Bill was born in Weakly County,Tennessee. At the age of 2 weeks, he was brought to Lansing by his sister, Rebecca Manns, to be raised as her own. He enjoyed life growing up with brother, Robert, (Stubby).
Bill graduated from Eastern High School, where he met the love of his life, Lorena. They went on to raise two children, David Dunlap, Janet (Michael) Kennedy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Henck, William (Brianne) Dunlap, Adam Dunlap; great grands, Logan and Gavin Henck; many nephews, nieces and others he called family.
Bill and Lorena had just celebrated their 68th Anniversary in February: quite a milestone these days.
He signed up immediately for the Marines when he knew he was to be drafted and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge Bill joined the Lansing Police Dept where spent 14 years walking the beat and riding his 3 wheel motorcycle. He then moved to the Zoning/Building Dept, retiring from there in 1991.
Bill enjoyed his many travels, fishing, and golfing. He loved playing cards with friends and family, and tinkering in his garage. He also loved helping everyone; was always the first to volunteer. Bill loved hearing a good joke and even better, telling one. His greatest joys in life were his family and friends whom he treasured.
Funeral Services will take place at 12pm Tuesday March 27th with visitation from 10am to 12pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel.
He will miss us all as much as we will miss him....
Stay happy for him, love to the fullest, enjoy every day!
