

William H. Granse Jr. of Greenville Michigan passed away on July 6, 2016 after a short illness. William was born on June 11, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of William H. Granse Sr. and Mary Pomeroy Granse, formerly of Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
He had a BS from the University of Michigan and Masters in English from Wayne State University. He taught English and writing skills for many years. Assignments included Stout State University in Wisconsin, University of Minnesota Duluth, Detroit Institute of Technology, and McComb County Community College among others. He loved to write poetry and self-published two poetry books.
He attended the First Congregational Church in Sheridan, Michigan for several years, and contributed religious poems to their newsletter. William was a resident of Greenville Acres Adult Foster Care for 24 years.
He is survived by brother Richard P. (Elizabeth) Granse of South Carolina; nephew, Thomas Granse of Kalamazoo; niece, Kathyrn Bachman of Diamondale; also grand-nephew, Max Bachman; and grand-niece, Maggie Bachman. He would like to be remembered by lifelong friends, Sanderson Smith of California; Jack Petzoldt of Port Huron; and the late Scott Chisholm. William befriended cats throughout his life and usually had one with him.
