Wilma was born May 20, 1928 in Lansing to Sylvia and Thomas Scott. Her husband Howard Giles Sewell first caught her eye at a square dance and their dates frequently included dancing to big band music in dance halls. They married August 29, 1950. They were married for 66 years. She attended the Lansing Central United Methodist Church where she and Howard together taught Sunday School classes and she sang her favorite hymns with her church community. She spent weekends up north at Little Manistee Lake, on the boat with book in hand and terrier Trixie by her side while her family fished. She taught her daughters baking recipes and ensured meals always concluded with dessert at the Sewell dining table. She was very close to her three sisters Margarete, Veralee, and Mabel. She hosted card parties and luncheons with her sisters-in-law and their daughters. She belonged to the Fraternal Order and Service Organization Rebekahs, the sister organization to the Independent Organization of Odd Fellows, to which Howard belongs. She made many memories with her bowling league.
